Vintage Band Festival at the Riverwalk Market Fair this Saturday July 28th! Art and Fine Craft, Local Produce & Artisan Foods

Saturday’s Riverwalk Market Fair welcomes the Vintage Band Festival, playing on stage during our bountiful collection of fresh local produce, artisan foods, and the area’s finest art and craft, this Saturday July 28 starting at 9 a.m. on historic downtown Northfield’s Bridge Square.

 

Seasonal Produce from Local Farmers, Artisan Foods, Art and Fine Craft

Local farmers have summer produce including fresh-picked romaine, green and red butter lettuce, cabbage, Swiss chard, arugula, kale, kohlrabi, fennel, snow peas, spinach, radishes, green onions, snow peas, potatoes, zucchini, cilantro, broccoli, and herbs, as well as local soil-grown tomatoes, flower bouquets,  and handmade natural soaps.  Artisan foods include fresh-baked breads, delicious sweet and savory pastries, baklava, cookies and cupcakes, shave ice, jams and jellies, and locally roasted coffee.

Jewelry, wood hand-crafted home accessories, fused glass art, pottery, fiber art, and photography are among the fine art and fine craft for sale.  All art and fine craft is original work, designed and created by the artists.

Featured Farmer:  Groundwire Coffee

            Groundwire Coffee has been a staple for customers at the Riverwalk Market Fair for many years.  They grind and roast coffee for both wholesale and retail customers at their shop in downtown Northfield.

If you stop by their vendor booth on Saturday’s be prepared for a line, but they make your coffee as quickly and as tasty as possible!  They have everything from cold to hot coffee with many different flavors.  The website for them is www.groundwire.coffee

 

Featured Artist:  Prairie Sun Design

            Nancy Stroessner of Apple Valley will be bringing her hand crafted purses, pillows, headbands, hair clips, hats, and scarves back again this year.  She states “It started with Barbie.  Before I was allowed anywhere near a sewing machine, I was designing evening gowns for Barbie with stick pins and pretty floral handkerchiefs, and manipulating folds of fabric into bustles and borders.”

Always sewing, always developing her skills and knowledge of sewing and handwork, and now is allowed to chase her dream of being a creator and purveyor of her own designs.  Her website is www.prairiesundesign.com

Vintage Band Festival  

The Vintage Band Festival is back this Saturday with 10 bands in 12 hours.  That means they must start early, which is good news for Riverwalk Market Fair.  While browsing art and seasonal produce, enjoy the New Prague Community Band, Mariachi Mi Tierra, Sheldon Theater Brass Band, Southside Aces, Amerikan Poijat (Boys of America), MN State Band, Twin Cities Brass Band, Brio Brass, Metro Brass, Copper Street Brass, and Buddy Koopmann Orchestra.

Stock up on goodies for your picnic, bring your chair, and stay all day for brass band music from civil war to old time swing & jazz.

Music by local musicians Rachel & Christa, fresh local produce and artisan foods, the area’s finest art and crafts, and the Northfield Public Library Book Bike, all at Riverwalk Market Fair, Saturday July 8th from 9 am to 1 pm, rain or shine, in historic downtown Northfield’s Bridge Square.

Featured Farmer:  Graise Farms

Graise Farms started in 2014 and is co-operated by Tiffany Tripp and Andy Olson.  Located in Faribault, they focus on raising animals humanely with access to outdoors, pasture, and human interaction.  The farm will have chicken eggs, duck eggs, pork shares, and whole chicken shares for sale every other Saturday.  Be sure to take a look at their stand, including this Saturday July 8th.

Featured Artist: Bumbleberry Stitch                

Mary Moss of Bumbleberry Stitch creates artfully sewn accessories that are inspired by fresh modern fabrics and a powerful desire to make everything both useful and beautiful.  Mary sells many different items at the Riverwalk Market Fair, including, journals, rope bowls, zip pouches, wallets, bags, key fobs, coasters, and many other artful accessories.

Featured Artist:  Brad’s Woodworking

Brad Paulson hails from Burnsville, MN and sells beautiful small tables, garbage cans, mirrors, wine racks, dog dishes, and other small items.  His work is made from rustic and natural edge woods.  He makes tables and smaller items, keeping them as natural as possible.  When you take a look at his booth and the work he does you will not be disappointed.

Music on July 8 from Rachel and Christa

            The duo of Rachel and Christa both live in Northfield and enjoy playing folk, spiritual, and whatever other kinds of music comes out of their acoustic guitars.  The two of them have always have had music running through their veins and are looking forward to performing at the Riverwalk Market Fair.
