Music by Pan-handlers, fresh local produce and artisan foods, the area’s finest art and crafts, , all at Riverwalk Market Fair, Saturday August 5 from 9 am to 1 pm, rain or shine, in historic downtown Northfield’s Bridge Square.

 

Seasonal Produce from Local Farmers, Artisan Foods, Art and Fine Crafts

Local farmers have early summer produce including fresh-picked romaine, green and red butter lettuce, Swiss chard, arugula, kale, kohlrabi, fennel, rhubarb, spinach, radishes, green onions, garlic scapes, peas, potatoes, zucchini, cilantro, broccoli, and herbs, as well as local soil-grown tomatoes, and handmade natural soaps.  Artisan foods include fresh-baked breads, delicious sweet and savory pastries, cookies and cupcakes, jams and jellies, and locally roasted coffee.

Wood hand-crafted home accessories, jewelry, fiber art, watercolor paintings, photography, glass art, and pottery are among the fine art and fine crafts for sale.  All art and fine crafts are original work, designed and created by the artists.

Featured Farmer:  Season Flowers

Ong Yang, born and raised in St. Paul, raises beautiful flowers and produce that their family sells each week at the Riverwalk Market Fair.  Everything they sell is locally grown and gives them lots of pride when they get to eat and sell what they’ve worked so hard for.   Once you visit their stand and talk with the family, you won’t leave empty handed!

Featured Artist: Seams Knotty

Gretchen Fierke makes accessories for both men & women, plus some children’s accessories.  She tries to find fun & vibrant fabrics to make a simple item stand out.  After moving to Northfield in 1999 she began teaching pre-school at Northfield Montessori and has for the past eleven years.

Music on August 5 by Pan-handlers

            The Pan‑handlers are a versatile 15-piece steel drum band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  If you have the need for some tropical sounds this band will help fill that.  They have a unique sound and will be playing a large variety of music at Saturday’s Riverwalk Market Fair.

Riverwalk Market Fair is an open-air market located on Bridge Square in historic downtown Northfield.  This one-of-a-kind European-style market is open Saturdays from June through October. Featured Farmer:  Mississippi Hills Produce

Adam Weeks is a fifth-year owner/grower who does all organic and mostly hand grown produce.  He operates a CSA and sells wholesale to Just-Foods and Ferndale Market.  He takes pride in growing the best produce possible, using the very best growing methods.  The challenging work and methods he uses can be seen in the quality of his produce every Saturday at the Riverwalk Market Fair.  The website for Mississippi Hills Produce is www.mhproduce.org

Featured Artist: Essentials by Tracie

Tracie Solum is a native Northfield resident who is a vendor for the first time at the Riverwalk Market Fair.  She sells homemade essential oil necklaces, car clips, corn bags, purse clips, and keychains.  As an emerging artist, she has done quite well this year and really enjoys being a part of the market.  Her tent always has a large crew, and lots of customers looking at her treasures.                   

Featured Artist:  Trinket Foundry

Cathy Collison of Northfield has been selling her goods at the Riverwalk Market Fair for a few years.  Cathy sells bottlecap jewelry, blown glass arrangements, and also jewelry from recycled and upcycled components.  She uses glass bottles, vases, candle holders, silver plated trays, bottle caps, and tea tins to make components to use in finished jewelry.  If you’d like to see some of her craft work before the market, look at her website www.trinketfoundry.com

Music on July 15 by Helen Forsythe

Helen Forsythe is a singer who also plays the banjo and enjoys singing bluegrass and folk music.  She’ll be playing her music on Saturday July 15th from 10-1 on Bridge Square.  Come and see her play while shopping at the Riverwalk Market Fair.
