 Featured Farmer:

Ruf Acres Farm

Ramon Rodriguez Carrion & John Besse run/own Ruf Acres Farm in Faribault.  They take immense pride in their early ripened tomatoes which are grown in a hot house.  When owner John Besse and his wife decided they wanted to start growing tomatoes, they wanted a way to have tomatoes before the 4th of July.  In the past few years they’ve had ripe tomatoes by June 1st!  They also sell strawberries grown at their farm and also rich, tasty maple

syrup.

Ruf Acres Farm stand is definitely a “can’t miss” at Riverwalk Market Fair, but get there early to get those juicy, red, beautiful tomatoes.

Featured Artist:  David Peterson Maker

David Peterson, of Northfield, is back as a vendor at Riverwalk Market Fair in 2018 after taking a year hiatus in 2017.  David crafts mostly simple, useful forms like bowls, platters, boxes, and vases.  Each item is shaped by hand from a single blank of raw wood, often green.   David remarked “as the piece spins, I remove wood using      various gouges, scrapes, and chisels.  As I remove wood, I figure out what shape is best for the piece of wood I’m working on.

David loves working with wood for three reasons: First, the wood itself, the second being the delight of woodturning comes from making the shapes, and third is the usefulness of the piece.

Music on June 9 by Matt Arthur

A southern Minnesota native, Matt Arthur, will be on Bridge Square Saturday to serenade the customers and vendors with his older country music covers, originals by Matt, and many other selections.

Matt Arthur learned singing by listening to gospel music, Johnny Cash, and other spiritual singers while growing up and decided that’s what he wanted to do for a living, be a singer/song writer.  To find out more information about him go to www.bratlanders.com

Featured Farmer:  Groundwire Coffee

Groundwire is a small, quality focused coffee roaster based out of beautiful Northfield.  They source and roast great tasting coffee for people looking to ramp up their morning cup, and look forward to sharing some tasty coffees at the market.  Cody Larson said about his coffee “I want everyone that comes to our tent thinking that coffee is simply a bitter, brown beverage – a delivery system for caffeine and nothing more, to walk away with the realization that coffee can be enjoyable, that it can actually taste good.”

Featured Artist: Wolcott Art
The ultimate recycler, Jennifer uses her plasma cutter to cut bird garden ornament bodies and wings from old, rusty file cabinets.  She puts the parts in a cement mixer with sand to smooth and take off the finish. Then she lays out pieces and paints them with a stencil in one hand and a paint can in the other. She assembles the pieces with no attention to color or pattern — just two types of wings and two types of bird bodies put together randomly.  The stencil colors leave the birds looking like they are cut out of fabric and quilted together.   Also check out Jennifer’s tall steel garden ornaments with whimsical names – Curly Qs and Lollipops.
