Seasonal Produce from Local Farmers, Artisan Foods, Art and Fine Crafts

Local farmers have summer produce including tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, green peppers,  sweet peppers, eggplant, patty pan squash, romaine, green and red butter lettuce, cabbage, Swiss chard, arugula, kale, kohlrabi, fennel, snow peas, spinach, radishes, green onions, potatoes, cilantro, broccoli, and herbs, as well as,  flower bouquets, farm fresh eggs, and handmade natural soaps.

Artisan foods include fresh-baked breads, delicious sweet and savory pastries, cookies and cupcakes, jams and jellies, and locally roasted coffee.

Jewelry, fiber art, watercolor paintings, photography, glass art, wood-working, and pottery are among the fine art and fine crafts for sale.  All art and fine crafts are original work, designed and created by the artists.

Goodies at Martha’s RMF booth

If you have a favorite treat at Martha’s Eats and Treats be sure to get there early because there is often very little left by the time Riverwalk closes, and there is always a line to start off the morning.. Martha always has a selection of both savory and sweet filled croissants and tarts. Staple selections include cinnamon rolls, mini quiches, fruit, cream, coconut, and almond croissants, and a savory turnover with cheese and spinach or other vegetables. Martha has been at Riverwalk Market Fair since it began in 2010.   As of 2015 she opened a retail store in Dundas that is open Fridays and Saturdays and for catering.

Featured Artist: Jae Mawby Ceramics

Jae creates wall vases out of stone ware and bowls with assorted styles and shapes.  She grew up in New Hampshire and went to college at St. Olaf, graduating in the spring of 2016.  Now she lives in Northfield and loves to design ceramics relating to bodies of water, family, and her ties to others.  Check out some of her work at www.jaemawby.com

Matt Arthur is a Southern Minnesotan with a voice that calls to mind Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, and John Darnielle. He writes and records songs you’d be pleased to hear on a playlist packed with early-70s Stones, Neil Young, and more recent offerings from Sturgill Simpson and the Drive By Truckers. He’ll be playing this Saturday at Riverwalk Market Fair and will be wowing the crowd with his great music.

Featured Farmer:  Season Flowers

Ong Yang, born and raised in St. Paul, raises beautiful flowers and produce that their family sells each week at the Riverwalk Market Fair.  Everything they sell is locally grown and gives them lots of pride when they get to eat and sell what they’ve worked so hard for.   Once you visit their stand and talk with the family, you won’t leave empty handed!

Featured Artist: Seams Knotty

Gretchen Fierke makes accessories for both men & women, plus some children’s accessories.  She tries to find fun & vibrant fabrics to make a simple item stand out.  After moving to Northfield in 1999 she began teaching pre-school at Northfield Montessori and has for the past eleven years.

Music on August 5 by Pan-handlers

            The Pan‑handlers are a versatile 15-piece steel drum band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  If you have the need for some tropical sounds this band will help fill that.  They have a unique sound and will be playing a large variety of music at Saturday’s Riverwalk Market Fair.

Cheryl’s Nut Butters have been a big hit at Northfield Riverwalk Market Fair! They are made by hand in small batches in Minnetonka, MN.  They are natural, fresh, healthy and taste amazing!  There is no added sugar or oil.  They have no preservatives and are soy, dairy and gluten free.  She has several varieties of peanut, almond, pistachio, cashew and sunflower. Becky Korbel, who lives in Montgomery, makes handcrafted jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, ankle bracelets, and children bracelets.  Most of the beads she uses are from Czechoslovakia and are glass beads.  Also, she uses gemstones, copper, and brass.  Becky sells a large variety and at affordable prices for the public.

Kathleen Johnson is a singer and plays the hammered dulcimer, which is a stringed instrument.  She describes her music as “Celtic meets classical music”.  Kathleen really enjoys telling stories through her music and will bring her great songs to life on July 22 at Riverwalk Market Fair.
