Featured Farmers: Welbaum Family of Goodtree Farmstead Shave Ice
Goodtree Farmstead Shave Ice is run by the Welbaum family of Northfield and features Hawaiian-style Shave Ice. It is made by shaving a block of ice finely to create delicate snow-like ice, then flavoring with a selection of from-scratch natural syrups as well as classic flavors and kid favorites.
The Welbaum family will be at Riverwalk Market Fair almost every Saturday throughout the summer season. The business has adult, child and dog-friendly products.
Featured Artist: Benjamin Leatham of Cannon River Bowl & Spoon
Trained as an architectural millworker, Benjamin Leatham has created custom wood moldings, casings, paneling, cabinetry, and furniture for grand mansions in the Washington, DC area. Life now brings his family, and his elegant yet rustic wood kitchen utensils, to Minnesota. Living by the philosophy of “surround yourself with things you find beautiful and use them every day,” Benjamin makes beautiful, useful wood rolling pins, ladles, huge carved bowls, and more, and fills his winters making custom furniture.
Featured Artist: Dale Brown of Dale’s Funky Glass
Dale Brown has been experimenting, learning, and trying new glass fusing techniques for years. He enjoys making and pre-fusing pieces that can be used as design elements in larger pieces. He currently employs techniques including wire melts, pattern flow bars, venetian cane, and kiln cast pendants. His pieces are often fired 3 times, the edges are cold worked, and then the artwork is either hand or kiln polished to finish it off. Dale says, “I love opening up the kiln to see what has happened & how the glass has been transformed.”
