Featured Farmer Pheng Yang Produce
Naturally-grown vegetables of every variety are the specialty of Yang Country Vegetables. Mama and Papa Yang personally hand-tend their entire 16 acre garden which, at peak, supplies 70% of the produce at nearby Lakeside Supper Club, while son Pheng Yang runs their vegetable stand which is open four days per week, and their stand at Riverwalk Market Fair on Saturdays.
Featured Artist Stephen Twite of Lime Creek Art
For Stephen Twite, painting had been a fascination for years. He decided it was time to bring his dream to life and begin painting while in Munich on a business trip, in 1999. Most of Stephen’s paintings are bright and whimsical. His process is to start with the background, not having any idea what is going on top, and to identify a main character or focal point after the mood, surroundings and ambiance have been created. Primary influences are Miro, Calder, Picasso, Klimt and Klee, but inspiration comes from everywhere.
New Farmers’ Market Vendor CannonBelles Cheese
Cannon Belles Cheese is a new venture founded by Deeann Lufkin, Kathy Hupf, and Jackie Ohmann. The three have been experimenting with small-scale cheese production and now are transitioning to production in a state-inspected creamery. The group hopes to build its own facility in Cannon Falls in 2017. Check out their cheese curds at their booth this week!
