Featured Farmers’ Market Vendor: Ruthie’s Kitchen
Recently retired from Hennepin County, Ruth Edstrom is often at Riverwalk Market Fair, and spends her off weeks at the Midtown Farmers Market in Minneapolis. Kolaches, rustic apple tarts, homemade caramels, and pumpernickel bread are just a few of her regular treats. In addition to sweets and breads, Ruthie makes jams and jellies including her hot pepper jam, and garlic jam, which makes a tremendous hors d’oeuvres served with cheese.
Featured Artist: Sweet Creek Originals’ Amy Brown
Amy Brown uses her basic tools of hammer, saw, torch, and solder to hand-form her earrings, bracelets, and necklaces of brass, silver, copper, gemstones, and repurposed materials like leather and sari silk. Her pieces have the strength of metal and a natural rustic nature, yet have a delicacy that comes from Amy’s nature-inspired design choices and the techniques she uses to etch and form them. Trained in metal work at design school and during a year and-a-half apprenticeship in Santa Fe, NM, Amy hand draws her designs onto metal, and then uses electricity to create the etchings.
Featured Artist: Zach Stadler Photography
Local wanderer to exotic tropical destinations, Zach Stadler has taken stunning photographs on his travels. His photographs of pristine beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters, cobalt skies, and white sand beaches are both aesthetically beautiful and evocative of sun, water, and freedom.
Zach travels for months at a time to Tahiti, the Bahamas, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, the Exuma Islands, and more. His photographs are often taken in the water, sometimes from his kayak, but often during free dives with long fins while holding his breath.
Music on August 13 by “Bobby and Christine”
Bobby & Christine are an acoustic duet featuring 2 voices and 1 guitar. Their sets feature well known Americana songs, some instrumental picking originals, lots of harmonies and fairly elaborate arrangements. You will hear a wide array of ballads and livelier songs from Louis Armstrong to Pete Townshend, from Woody Guthrie to the Beatles. Their simpler tunes are usually dolled up with some riffs, harmonies, stalls, and key changes to keep them moving along.
Division Street Dance will be hosting our Youth Activity Booth
