Featured Farmers’ Market Vendor Wheelie Awesome Natural Products

Wheelie.2015-08-15.smWynne Turner began making soaps when she discovered that one of her children was sick—and it wasn’t genetic, it was environmental.  She began exploring ways to reduce toxins in their home environment and in their personal care products.  An avid baker, Wynne decided that making soap was akin to baking—measure and mix—and has been exploring new soap and body care product-making techniques using natural and organic ingredients ever since.  wheelie-6-11-2016She started selling her products in her husband’s Rosemount bicycle shop (hence the name, Wheelie) and finds soap making a creative outlet and a change of pace from her regular job in legal compliance.  Now also doing custom orders, Wynne is working with bed & breakfasts to supply their soaps.

Featured Artist:   Shirley Jones of Plymouth Avenue Art Studio

shirley-jones-9-2016As an artist and newly retired St. Paul art teacher, Shirley Jones brings not only creativity and ability to her art, but also brings intent to everything she makes.  In a nod to jewelry traditionally made by Berber nomads from found objects, Shirley makes Berber necklaces that have a randomness to them.  Her Red Pepper Jewelry evokes the stories of escaped slaves who carried red pepper to mask their scent from dogs.  Stop by her booth to hear the stories that inspired her African Angels, Robin Island jewelry, and more.

shirley-jones-9-3-2016A skilled jeweler, Shirley uses gemstones, found objects, and brass in her jewelry, hand making her bezels and settings, cutting and filing metal, and soldering pieces.
