Featured Farmers’ Market Vendor: Kris Gable of Kris’ Cupcakes
Kris has been baking with family since she was very young. After recent forays into making cupcakes, and many compliments, Kris decided to take her baking to the next level, selling cupcakes at Riverwalk Market Fair!
She makes a variety of flavors, including chocolate, carrot, white, banana, and pumpkin, most topped with buttercream frostings. Expanding her selection, Kris has just added muffins and individual cheesecakes. Stop by for a Saturday treat!
Featured Artists: Katie Saied and Andres Gonzales of Pura Vida Handmade Jewelry
Andres’ upbringing in a family of artisans in Costa Rica taught him the fine techniques he uses to create jewelry—setting gemstones into hand-formed silver and copper bezels, and cutting intricate shapes out of coconut shells–not with a laser cutter but by hand, with a jeweler’s saw! Andres has been making and selling his jewelry for years in Guatemala, where he and wife Katie met, but since moving to Minnesota they have begun cutting local designs (like loons and the shape of Minnesota) into shells. Katie sets large semi-precious stones in fine macramé, creating intricate bracelets, rings, earrings, and statement necklaces.
Featured Artist: Dennis McClintock of McClintock PhotoGraphics
A part of Riverwalk Market Fair since its inception, Dennis was born in Iowa, raised in California, and started his fine art photography business in Texas before moving to Northfield in 2010.
Dennis enjoys photographing landscapes, sunsets, historical buildings and other man-made structures, nature, and wildlife. Having converted from film to digital in 2003, Dennis finds that the digital process allows for some of the same corrections and fine-tuning found in the traditional darkroom, but allows for additional creative options.
Music on August 6 by vendor favorite, Cellist Parker Ousley
Parker Ousley grew up in Northfield and began playing cello at age 5. After studying classical music for 10 years, he joined an amateur folk band as a singer and cellist and later began singing and playing as a solo act. He and his cello, Jeremy, can be found performing on their own, in the locally-based duo The Triplets, and in Boston-based groups American Housewife and Unauthorized Personnel. His solo act lacks a definitive genre, but would likely fall somewhere between folk, pop, and jazz. Parker is studying cello performance at Berklee College of Music.
Also this week: Greg & Friends, playing from 9-10am, and Northfield Friends of the Library at the Youth Activity Booth!
Newly formed local musical group Greg & Friends will be performing everything from Elvis to Fleetwood Mac from 9 – 10 a.m.
Northfield Friends of the Library will be hosting our Youth Activity Booth. Stop by!
