Farmers have summer produce such as green beans, fresh-picked salad greens, snow peas, radishes, broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower, Asian and head cabbage, kohlrabi, cucumber, kale, potatoes, carrots and herbs, along with tomatoes, flowers, honey, and maple syrup.

Artisan foods include fresh-baked, locally-made jams and jellies, cookies, breads, sweet and savory pastries, baklava, cupcakes, and locally roasted coffee. New to market is Youth Booth vendor Louis’ French Crepes.

Jewelry, watercolor paintings and prints, pottery, metal garden art, fused glass, Henna, woodwork arts, fiber art accessories, and rubber stamps are among the art and fine craft for sale.

Featured Farmer Ruthie’s Kitchen

Ruthie 2015-07-25Newly retired from Hennepin County, Ruth Edstrom is at Riverwalk Market Fair every other week, and spends her off weeks at the Midtown Farmers Market in Minneapolis.  Kolaches, rustic apple tarts, homemade caramels, and pumpernickel bread are just a few of her regular treats.  In addition to sweets and breads, Ruthie makes jams and jellies including her hot pepper jam, and garlic jam, which makes a tremendous hors d’oeuvres served with cheese.

Featured Artist Amarilys Henderson of Watercolor Devo

Amarilys 2015-07-25Amarilys Henderson’s paintings are gracefully bright yet subtly soft, combining her skill in watercolors with her knack for typography. She says, “…joy in connecting through paint [is] my upmost priority. So when I approach that sheet of paper now, I just go for it!”   Amarilys has recently begun creating custom wedding invitations, and on her Watercolor Devo blog, offers free printable downloads and DIY tutorials.

Stella Sparrow.Lynn Lentz 2015-07-25Trained in art and design, jeweler Lynn Lentz upcycles pieces like leather belts and old jewelry into something new by combing them with metals, beads, and crystals. She says of the process she uses to make her necklaces, earrings, cuffs, and bracelets, “I gravitated to a Hot Solder process that drew me into an image stamped into hot molten metal. I loved the unpredictable elements that would arise.”

Ceramics Artist Jim Haas Lets Kids Try a Pottery Wheel

Jim-Haas-Kid-Demo1-680x1024Ever want to try the art of making clay change from a lump into a useable vessel, using a pottery wheel?  On Saturday, ceramics artist Jim Haas will demonstrate how to use a pottery wheel, and young people can try it themselves. Jim has been making ceramics for over 10 years and enjoys experimenting with new ideas and forms.

Parker OusleyParker Ousley is a cellist and singer born and raised in Northfield. Aiming to share the cello’s unexplored versatility, he is often recognized for his unorthodox use of the instrument. Inspired by artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald and Sam Cooke to The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, Parker’s music appeals to a wide audience. He is currently studying Cello Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
